    Medical Transportation

Please remember that Bard is located in a rural setting. The shuttle goes into Red Hook and Tivoli daily. ACCESS Vending Machine

Ellen Herlihy ’25 is a human rights major and executive director of the Bard Planned Parenthood Generation Action Chapter Club. A recent project of the club has been advocating for the ACCESS vending machine that has just been put up in the campus center. The club worked with a multitude of different on-campus departments, including student government and Code Red, and off-campus organizations including the Planned Parenthood of Greater New York, EC4EC/Emergency Contraception for Every Campus, and the New York State Department of Health to provide a single location for a range of resources that are in high demand on a college campus.

Jaime Blois ’26, violin performer with the Bard Conservatory and sociology major, has joined the project in hopes that her research on the social impact of the vending machine would incentivize other schools to join Bard in the efforts for accessible sexual healthcare. Blois found that not only is there stigma surrounding the use of contraceptives but also a financial barrier for many students. The ACCESS vending machine is open from 8 am to 1 am throughout the academic year and provides: emergency contraceptive, harm reduction products, general health products, and menstrual products completely free to any Bard student. Herlihy emphasizes that, “It’s important to equip students with the tools that they need to make smart, healthy and safe decisions.”
